One day we realized
that we were in the same situation as many of our customers. Our facilities had become an obstacle to our development. We have to move! Neither customer visits to our showroom nor our own workplaces suited us any longer. The premises were large and the walls inhibited our business, so we started looking for other facilities.
So we found LUMA in the jungle of premises market. The LUMA-house is a functional and cost-conscious industrial plant that needs to be conserved. We felt at home at once – although the facilities were empty. The place spoke to us and it felt as if it was just waiting for us to move in and make the rooms come alive. We know that journey. Our story can also be your story. Let us explain how we achieved it.
As a first step we investigated the employees' needs. Secondly we listened to their wishes. After all it is the employees who make things happen as well as making the company culture alive. "Before, we adapted ourselves in the old facilities which were dark and too big. Not very stimulating at all."
- Sören Andersson
Offices have become
an extremely complex environment. It is easy to fail in the connection to the organization's culture, values and goals. Therefore many employees feel bad in today’s office environments.
In today´s situation, offices are converted into open solutions, landscapes. This means big changes in the flow and presence - completely new areas and constellations are created. Just like in a small town, it is important to create natural flows to move and choose the right place for different needs. If we are to succeed, we must simply understand our employees' needs. Only then - when we have a work-friendly, creative and motivating environment, everyone can share and develop. It is all about creating a balance between hard and soft values, i.e. between design factors such as light, color, sound, air and the connection to participation, control and workload. These will then be linked back to both working and organizational goals. An operational change must also comply with the interior environment. Such conditions we have to build from the beginning - to face the future. ”Before it was those up stairs and we down stairs. Now we have considered flows - we're working in a new and very fun way. Together!”
- Kerstin Swedberg

, one must start with the way it looks today and work out a need analysis. Sustainable and motivating furnishing solution is a teamwork where different disciplines work together. “Our new smart flows enable us to spontaneously get together across departmental boundaries. It has become much more enjoyable and also more creative”.
- Peter Bäckman
For us it was natural to make use of the service EFG REUSE in the move to the new premises. In the first stage, we assessed which products that are relevant to donate. Step two then became to determine what we can recycle. In total EFG Stockholm managed to recycle: 3 280 kg metal, 358 kg electronics, 9 097 kg burnable waste, 4 940 kg wood, 5 950 kg mixed waste. Together, the leftover material could either be 261 new bikes, 27 EFG Izi Niveau desks or heat a large villa for 1.5 years! Learn more about EFG Reuse here.
Of the total surplus from our old premises, we donated the entire 10,285 kg to Stockholms Stadsmission, an organization that supports people in need. "We are very happy to take part of your sustainability work, generosity and care. All the furniture that we received from you will be used by our staff and participants in social projects for people that, in one way or another find themselves in difficult life situations."
- Marie Malm, Collection Manager Second-hand Stockholms Stadsmission
We can both
build furniture and understand people! We are now working in the same environment that we sell to our customers. We have no handbook of rules, but have shaped our own working environment, self-explanatory. We have always observed the people and behaviors and then designed environments based on their needs. Thanks to that, we have also been able develop from being a furniture producer to the full design house that we are today. Now, not only our new premises lives through color, light, space and transparency, but also we as employees received a new glow. Let us show you what we can!
“The move has given us new energy. Even the customers are enthusiastic! I am convinced that it will also show in our results.”
- Mathias Fogde
